Depression, psychosocial factors, and laboratory routine testing in people living with HIV in Northeastern Mexico: prevalence, correlations, and its associations

Introduction: Depression is up to five times more prevalent in people living with HIV (PLWHIV). There are neurohormonal, virological and psychosocial factors involved it associated antiretroviral treatment non-adherence, decreased life expectancy, faster progression AIDS premature death. Studies support that lower CD4 levels, the higher viral load (VL), depression increases. Objective: To establish whether there a correlation association between VL count its symptoms PLWHIV. Method: Under follow-up Infectious Disease outpatient clinic survey of sociodemographic variables, Beck's Inventory (BDI) was applied study subjects, whose results were analyzed using Rho Spearman (rs) Chi Squared test (X2) levels. Results: 137 individuals included, from 18-73 years, which 97 (70.8%) male assigned at birth. The prevalence reported, 25.5%. A positive found BDI score, negative score CD4. In addition, VL, depressive such as guilt, discouragement self-image perception. These strongly death wishes, previous suicide attempts, non-dherence. Conclusion: may have implication this population, so their control extremely important prevent episodes suicidal behavior prolong adherence.
